Work That Has Been Done

Work That Has Been Done

While I have recently began a non-for-profit organization called “Illustrating Nadia” that supports and raises money for children’s hospitals throughout Ukraine, more work has been done in the past. Last year, I, along with some classmates, gave a presentation about the current situation and brief history in Ukraine, and organized an in-school supplies drive to send over the counter medicine, blankets, food items, clothes, toys, etc. to facilities in Ukraine through an organization called Meest. Our drive got so much support that we ended up collecting a whopping 177lbs of supplies that were safely transported all the way to Ukraine. I continue to post information regarding the war on social media, and thanks to my Ukrainian friend, I try to keep myself informed about this crisis. I hope this organization of hope and unity can help many more in need and inspire large support during this difficult time.

The book is split up into two sections: poetry and short stories. The poetry section contains 12 pieces of completely unrelated poetic prose and poetry with a personal illustration for each. A navigation through hardship and a path of growth, every poem explores an emotional experience, thought, or idea in the mind, perspective, and journey of a teenage girl expressed through the trail of a minuscule blue butterfly. The short story reads separately as a twisted, Brother’s Grimm-inspired fairytale filled with fantasy, darkness, and mystery. It contains a cohesive set of illustrations according to the story’s events. Essentially, an exhibition of passion in writing and art, the book is an expressive work of a young and aspiring author.
